NATIONAL TRAIL DAYS LODGE-HIKE-CAMPOUT ADVENTURE
Enjoy a rigorous 19+ mile hike and campout at Bark Camp Lake
This special event happens once a year in celebration of National Trail Days. The 2018 event is June 1-3 and promises to be a grand adventure.
After a comfy Friday night's stay at Mountain View Lodge, wake to a Saturday morning continental breakfast before being transported to High Knob to begin the first leg of your rigorous 19.6 mile hike to Hanging Rock/Little Stony Falls.
Buzzard's Roost staff will pack/unpack and set-up your gear (tent, sleeping bags, etc.)at the campsite while you enjoy the trek along Chief Benges Scout Trail. Your guides are experts and will entertain and inform you about the trail, wildlife, and folklore along the way. Saturday afternoon, you'll arrive at Bark Camp Lake where your campsite is ready and waiting for your arrival. Buzz will have the BBQ stoked and chicken on the grill. Kick back, relax and enjoy a campfire supper and, no doubt, some storytelling before retiring under the stars.
After a Sunday morning camp breakfast, you'll continue your hike to Hanging Rock. Don't worry about your tent and gear, we'll break it down and pack it up for you. And we'll meet you at your destination ready to transport you back to the Lodge.
Pricing is per person and includes, Saturday breakfast, transportation of you and your gear to High Knob, tent/gear set up, lunch, dinner, Sunday breakfast, equipment break-down/pack up, and your return transportation to Mountain View Lodge. Bring your own tent and sleeping bags. If you don't have any, no problem. We can provide rental equipment for a nominal charge.
Price does not include Friday lodging, tent/sleeping bag or gear rentals. Pricing varies for lodging and equipment rentals depending upon your needs. Call us to discuss your needs and group discounts.
Hiking boots, long pants, long sleeve shirts, water bladder and a lightweight day pack with snacks and personal items are recommended. No flip flops or open toed shoes allowed. Older children are welcome but under 18 must be accompanied by an adult
The trail guides are volunteer members of the Clinch Coalition organization. Your Roost guide/driver is an employee of Mountain View Productions, Inc. Tips are welcome but not necessary.
